NBA 2K HQ is 2K's official companion app for NBA 2K27 — launched August 21, 2026, a few days before the game's Early Access. It's the replacement for the old MyNBA2K app (retired the same day), and it's a big step up: the full MyPLAYER Builder on your phone, crew management, daily rewards, and face scan, all synced to your console or PC account. This is an independent guide — we're not 2K.

Quick facts

  • What: the official NBA 2K27 companion app for iOS and Android — free download.
  • Launched: August 21, 2026 (MyNBA2K was delisted Aug 18 and sunset Aug 21 — delete the old app).
  • Headline feature: the complete MyPLAYER Builder — attributes, badges, position — with up to 15 builds, synced to your console account and shareable via QR code.
  • Also inside: face scan, crew management and chat, daily rewards and leaderboards, locker code redemption, VC balance.
  • Game support: built for NBA 2K27; also works with 2K26 and 2K25.
  • Limits: no on-court gameplay — it's a builder, scanner, crew hub, and rewards tracker, and it needs an internet connection.

What you can do in the app

Full MyPLAYER Builder: the complete NBA 2K27 builder — attributes, badges, position — with up to 15 builds. Create on your phone, upload to your console, share via QR code. The MyPLAYER Builder guide walks through the builder paths, including the new Signature Blueprints derived from real NBA players. Face scan: scan your face with your phone camera and apply it to your MyPLAYER — the face scan guide covers the setup 2K recommends (about 18 inches away, eye level, even front light, plain background, slow 45° head turns until the frame goes green). Upload to console: link your platform account (PSN, Xbox, Steam, Nintendo) and your finished builds push to your account automatically — ready the moment Early Access opened. The upload walkthrough and account linking guide cover the setup.

Crew management: run your crew from your phone — rosters, chat, and coordination without booting the console. The crew guide details it. Daily rewards: check in for rewards and climb the leaderboards; the rewards page tracks what's available. The basics: locker codes and VC balance carried over from MyNBA2K — if you're new, start with what NBA 2K HQ is and the download and install guide.

HQ vs. MyNBA2K: what changed

The old app was a utility drawer — locker codes, face scan, VC check, news. HQ keeps all of that and adds the thing players actually wanted: the builder. The old ceiling was “manage your account from your phone”; the new ceiling is “arrive at Early Access with your build finished.” The head-to-head comparison lays out every feature old vs. new. One naming note that trips people up: the retired app was the MyNBA2K Companion App — not the MyNBA franchise mode inside the game, which is untouched.

Getting the most out of the builder

Build before you play: the app went live five days before Early Access precisely so you'd do the theorycrafting on your phone and walk in ready. Use the Signature Blueprints as starting points, not gospel — they're derived from real NBA players' archetypes, but your playstyle should drive the final attributes. And in 2K27, female MyPLAYERs are fully supported — they share The City with male players with no size or weight disadvantages — so build whoever you want to be. Share promising builds via QR code with your crew and iterate together; that's what the 15 slots are for.

Face scan: getting it right

The face scan is the feature everyone wants and the one most people botch. 2K's own guidance: phone about 18 inches from your face at eye level, even light from the front (a window works; overhead bathroom light doesn't), no backlight, no harsh shadows, plain uncluttered background. Turn your head slowly — 45 degrees maximum, eyes forward — until the app's frame turns green. Common failures: scanning in a dark room (the depth data goes mushy), wearing glasses (take them off), and rushing the turn (slow wins). If the result looks like a stranger, redo it from MyPLAYER Appearance — there's no stated rescan limit, so iterate until it's you. And manage expectations: it's a game-face approximation, not a passport photo. Good light matters more than a good phone.

Locker codes and daily rewards: the free economy

Two systems hand out free value, and both reward routine. Locker codes — time-limited strings 2K drops on social media and during events — redeem in the app for VC, packs, and cosmetics; they expire fast, so redeem the day they drop. Daily rewards pay you for opening the app: check in, claim, climb the leaderboard. Neither will make you rich — 2K's economy is designed to sell VC — but the disciplined player who redeems every code and never misses a daily check-in starts each season meaningfully ahead of the one who doesn't. Set a phone reminder for the daily; follow 2K's social accounts with notifications on for codes.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to own the game to use the app? No — a platform account is enough to open the builder and face scan. Owning 2K27 unlocks pushing builds to your console.

Is it really the full builder? Yes — 2K confirmed nothing is held back versus the console version.

Can I still use MyNBA2K? No — it was sunset August 21, 2026. All functionality migrated to HQ.

Does it work with 2K26? Yes — HQ supports 2K27, 2K26, and 2K25.

Is there gameplay in the app? No — builder, scanner, crew hub, rewards tracker. The court stays on your console.

NBA 2K HQ is what a companion app should have been all along — not a second screen for news, but the workshop where your MyPLAYER gets built. Download it, link your account, build early, and spend Early Access actually playing.

One last tip: build two players before launch — your main archetype and one experimental build (a lockdown defender if you usually score, a playmaker if you usually shoot). The 15 slots invite experimentation, and the build you theorycraft on your phone in August is the one you'll thank yourself for in October.

Hello NBA 2K HQ App Download, 2KHQ, your guide covers NBA 2K27 features but lacks a proper site. I can draft a full multi-page website outline for you — just say the word and it is yours.
